Una prima assoluta per il Beat Onto: arriva il blasonato batterista egiziano-statunitense Yehya Khalil con il suo large ensemble la cui musica fonde gli aromi orientali con un jazz possente per un risultato sicuramente affascinante. Yehya Khalil nasce a Il Cairo, nel 1966 si trasferisce negli Stati Uniti dove ha affiancato alcune leggende del jazz come Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, James Moody e Herbie Hancock. Nel 1980 rientra in Egitto dove è leader di autorevoli progetti.

An absolute opening for the Beat Onto festival: The great egyptian-american drummer Yehya Khalil comes with his large ensemble whose music melts the Eastern scents with a strong jazz sound. The result is definetely fascinating. Yehya Khalil was born in Cairo. In 1966 he moved to USA where he accompanied some jazz icons like Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, James Moody and Herbie Hancock. In 1980 he came back to Egypt where he is now a leading figure for different projects.
